Shadowrun

I fuckin love SR5. Its great

WHY WOULD YOU LIKE THAT MESS?

So yeah, most Shadowrun fans are not the biggest fan of SR5. Why do I like it? Fuckin stockholm syndrome. Its the one I got first, my friends and I were forced to understand it. We have all this info in our head about how it works that would be fuckin useless if we changed systems, or even just editions. Yeah I can justify not liking how Edge or Armor works in SR6, or complain about hacking in SR4, but let's face it - if I stopped playing SR5 all this crap, like how AOE damage bounces off walls, or how manufactured objects resist damage - or god damn fucking crash rules - all that would be wasted effort. So I'm stuck with it - classic sunk cost fallacy.

Okay but, what about Shadowrun vs other settings?

Shadowrun is just like, fuckin, cool? Idk. Have you ever read Neuromancer? Like yeah, Cyberpunk2020 is like Neuromancer, but like, have you really read it? Shadowrun has the vibes down.

> listen up chummer, here's the deal. what shadowrun has that other settings don't is scope and focus. cyberpunk2020 is great and all, but its almost all about the good ol' US of A - or whats left of it anyways. yeah there's a london sourcebook - but shadowrun has one of those too - and yeah the corps are from all over the place too, but its about the death of americana - which is sweet as shit, but not the only thing im lookin for. sr5? that has fuckin, the entire fuckin world chummer. havanna, azteclan, the fuckin go gangs in germany? the forever wars in the middle east? all fuckin there.

> the second thing i mentioned is focus. if you read neuromancer, yeah its about your fuckin brain boys right - not a huge difference between netrunners and deckers on that front. since shadowrun is less universally cyber'd up i guess you have trodes as a thing more but like, whatever, small potatoes. but neuromancer isn't about some street punk rocker boys making a big statement, its not about corpos either. its about fuckin professional criminals whose job is to do fuckin crime. and that, my friends, is exactly what a shadowrunner is. that is exactly what shadowrun is written to do. and yeah, you can be your punk shit rockerboy whose going to get his teeth kicked in by lonestar, and have fun with that too, but you can do so much fuckin more.

Also, classless TTRPGs are wayyyyyyy better than classed TTRPGs. I hear Cyberpunk Red is classless or at least less classed, idk if that's true.

My Characters
